These super easy Sausage Balls made with Bisquick and Cornbread Stuffing Mix are the perfect party food for game day or holiday tables. This recipe is a delicious upgrade to the classic sausage balls recipe you’ll find on a box of Bisquick baking mix. These 2-bite, golden brown, mixture of simple ingredients come together to make the perfect little finger foods for any special occasion.

WHAT INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE EASY SAUSAGE BALLS
- 1 box seasoned instant cornbread stuffing mix
- 1 cup of Bisquick Baking Mix
- 1 lb. of ground pork sausage, room temperature
- 1/3 cup green pepper – finely chopped
- 1/3 cup green onion – finely chopped
- 2 cups grated block cheese
- 1/2 cup of milk or cream
- 1 egg
HOW TO MAKE THIS PERFECT APPETIZER
This adaptation of Classic Sausage Balls is always a great big hit that is super simple to make.
- Chop the green onions and peppers and place in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the entire box of seasoned instant cornbread stuffing mix and 1 cup of bisquick mix, and toss together with a large spoon.
- Add the room-temperature ground sausage and grated sharp cheddar cheese. Gently hand-mix everything for about a minute.
- Add the cream and egg together. whisk.
- Pour the cream-egg mixture on the sausage mixture and hand mix until everything is incorporated. Try not to over-mix.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out the mixture in 1-inch balls. Gently roll between your hand until somewhat firm. Try not to make the ball very tightly packed because they could come out chewy.
- Place the uncooked sausage balls in rows on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Bake at 375 for about 15 minutes and then turn over for an additional 10 minutes.
- This easy appetizer recipe makes almost 40 sausage balls.
RECIPE VARIATIONS
- Sausage – I prefer hot sausage but any kind of pork sausage will do… sweet Italian, hot sausage, regular, or sage.
- Stuffing – herb stuffing, savory, any kind of seasoned boxed stove-top stuffing.
- Peppers and Onions – I prefer Jalapenos myself but green and/or red bell peppers, and canned green chilis (drained) would be excellent.
- Cheese – extra sharp cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack or a mixture of all 3, yum! Note: Stay away from pre-shredded cheese, it has gluten fillers and is less moist.

CAN YOU FREEZE SAUSAGE BALLS?
Absolutely! Lay out on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze in the freezer for a couple of hours or until they’re frozen and really firm. Transfer to a Zip Lock Freezer bag or airtight container and store for up to 1 or 2 months.
When ready to cook, let them sit out for about 20 mins before cooking. Follow the recipe’s baking instructions above. 👆
CAN YOU BAKE SAUSAGE BALLS AND THEN FREEZE?
Yes, let them cool before you transfer them to a plastic freezer bag or freezer-safe airtight container.
HOW DO YOU REHEAT ALREADY-COOKED SAUSAGE BALLS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN FROZEN?
Place the frozen cooked sausage balls on a microwave-safe plate lined with a paper towel. Place another paper towel on top and microwave on high for 20 seconds at a time. If using an oven, wrap the sausage balls in an aluminum foil “envelope” and heat at a lower temperature like 300 degrees for about 15 minutes. Be careful not to overcook.

Easy Sausage Balls with Cornbread Stuffing
Ingredients
- 1 box Seasoned Cornbread
- 1 cup Bisquick Baking Mix
- 1 pound ground Hot Sausage can use regular, italian or sweet
- 1/3 cup finely chopped green pepper any kind
- 1/3 cup finally chopped green onion yellow or red can be substituted
- 2 cup grated cheese extra sharp cheddar, Monterrey Jack, Pepper Jack
- 1/2 cup cream or milk
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375. Gently mix first 6 ingredients using hands.
- Slightly whisk egg and cream together. Gently mix in wet ingredients to sausage mix.
- Form a scoop of mixture into a ball and roll gently. Using a small ice cream or cookie scoop makes it easy.
- Cook on parchment paper oraluminum foil on a large baking sheet. Cook for 15 mins then turn over and cook for another 10 mins.
- Serve with your favorite sauce if desired. Enjoy!!!
